Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners Owners Advocate and Promote Local and Global Charities
Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) May 05, 2014 -- Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners is one of the local businesses advocating for the Freedom House 5th Annual Gala on Saturday, May 17th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The event will raise vital funds for Freedom House’s two residential shelters and aftercare programs to support human-trafficking survivors. Freedom House is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to bring hope, restoration, and a new life to survivors of human-trafficking by providing a safe home and long-term aftercare. The Nest is one of two shelters through Freedom House for girls ages 12 to 17 and is located in an undisclosed location in Santa Clara County.
Guest registration, social hour and silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m., with the banquet dinner commencing at 7:15 p.m. The festive celebration will feature silent and live auctions, with such interesting items as a flying lesson, a dude ranch stay, cultural and sporting events, dining and wine tasting experiences, and beauty and spa treatments, among others.
“I recently went through advocacy training for The Nest and hope to become a voice for these young girls. We are always collecting donations and/or other much needed items for the home such as personal hygiene items and new and gently used clothing,” said Ms. Adams.
In addition, Santa Cruz Rug Cleaners recently became an official drop-off location for the global anti-poverty organization, Soles4Souls Inc. They will collect new and gently worn shoes all year long for to help the organization which monetizes used shoes and clothing to create sustainable jobs and fund direct relief efforts, including distribution of new shoes and clothing. Founded in 2007, the organization has distributed more than 25 million shoes in well over 100 countries.
