School Training Solutions Director and Team to Participate in RAGBRAI
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- On July 21, School Training Solutions (STS) Director Patrick Willi and the STS Cycling Team will join the thousands of riders cycling in the 41st Register's Annual Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). The week-long ride (from July 21-27) will cover 406 miles from Council Bluffs to Fort Madison.
School Training Solutions, a division of Smart Horizons, provides online training programs for school district employees. Their popular courses for transportation specialists have been offered at discounted rates through the campaign to raise awareness towards Sharing the Road for the safety of all drivers, bicyclists, and runners. STS also raised funds during the campaign for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing through a Race T-shirt challenge.
The STS Sharing the Road campaign commenced in April with the Gulf Coast Interstate Relay. It spanned several running and triathlon events through the summer and will culminate with RAGBRAI, the world’s oldest, largest bicycle touring event. “The team has been preparing all year for this event. It is the ideal way to conclude our Sharing the Road campaign,” says Mr. Willi. RAGBRAI began in 1973, when a few friends who were news columnists and avid cyclists got together for a casual ride across Iowa. They wrote about their experience and word spread. Today the event garners national media attention, draws hundreds of thousands of riders, spectators, and vendors, and even has its own app. This year, cyclist Lance Armstrong will return in a fifth visit to RAGRBRAI – but in his first public cycling event since his confession to doping.
