“ShowMeCon’s pre-conference classes provide students with useful training needed for the real-world threats they face on a daily basis,” said Dave Chronister, Co-founder, Hacker University.
Hands-On Hacking will be held on June 9th - 12th, 2016, from 9 a.m.— 5 p.m. This 4-day class is designed for those who have been tasked with testing their company networks in order to better understand and defend those networks. Students will learn the fundamentals of testing their IT environments via hands-on hacking labs that simulate various security issues faced by today’s organizations. At the end of each day, attendees will participate in a Capture the Flag which will re-enforce what they have learned. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to create a robust testing program for their organization. Award-winning instructor and world-renown hacker, Dave Chronister, will be teaching this class which he created.
Secure Routing & Switching will be held on June 11th - 12th, 2016, from 8 a.m.—6 p.m. In this intense 2-day class, students will learn the fundamentals of routing and switching from a blue and red team perspective. Using hands-on labs, students will receive practical experience with routing and switching technologies with a detailed discussion on how to attack and defend the network infrastructure. Students will leave the class with a solid understanding of how to configure and operate routing and switching protocols as well as how to attack and defend the control, management and data planes in their organization’s networks. World-renown instructor and network engineer, Paul Coggin, will be teaching this course which he also developed.
Introduction to Social Engineering & Penetration Testing will be held June 11th - 12th, 2016, from 9 a.m.—5 p.m. This is also a 2-day course designed to provide students with an overview of social engineering and its application to penetration testing. Initially, the basics of social engineering and why it works will be explored. Then, the class will dive into non-traditional topics such as spycraft, acting, pressure sales and the psychology behind them. Next, building upon that knowledge, the class will create social engineering attacks, including steps of the process from planning to post-attack, real-world examples of phishing and phone exercises. Lastly, the course will focus on physical and social engineering attacks. Industry-recognized social engineer and security expert, Valerie Thomas, will teach this training class in which she created.
