Being environmentally responsible is one of Shweiki's guiding principles, and the idea has even been implemented into the culture of the company as one of its core values: we are safe, we are clean, we are green.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 06, 2014

At Shweiki Media Printing Company, enormous importance is placed on respecting and taking care of the environment, and it goes far beyond simply recycling soda cans and throwing the term "green" around. Being environmentally responsible is one of Shweiki's guiding principles, and the idea has even been integrated into the culture of the company as one of its core values: we are safe, we are clean, we are green.

Here are a few of the ways Shweiki does their part to reduce waste, conserve energy and maintain an environmentally safe manufacturing process...

SOY-BASED INK

Shweiki Media uses soy-based inks, which are less harmful to the environment than their petroleum-based counterparts. Soy-based inks are widely recognized as the environmentally friendly choice. The team also tightly controls inventory, ordering only the quantity of ink needed, in order to prevent waste.

AIR CONTROL

Shweiki's press is equipped with Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs) from MEGTEC, which provide environmental technologies that eliminate harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and odors from the printing processes.

PROCESSLESS PLATES

At the plant, Shweiki uses KODAK SONORA XP Process Free Plates, which deliver the print capabilities and productivity of mainstream plates, without the processing and chemistry. This process removes all chemistry, water, equipment, energy and waste related to the processing of making plates, significantly reducing the impact on the environment.

PAPER RECYCLING

When it comes to paper, Shweiki has implemented the most innovative recycling solutions possible to collect and bale all paper waste to prepare it for recycling.

WASTE RECYCLING

At Shweiki, collection bins are located throughout the plant to collect glass, aluminum, and plastic to help reduce the company's impact on the environment every day.

SFI AND FSC PAPER

The paper used at Shweiki Media comes from trees harvested under the Sustainable Forest Initiative and Forest Stewardship Council. This paper is processed without environmentally harmful bleach and chlorine agents and comes from forests that are managed responsibly.
