Somerville Aluminum Donates $20,000 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund
Branchburg, NJ (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- Somerville Aluminum announced it has made a $20,000 donation to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie, to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of New Jersey communities impacted by the storm.
“Our success would not be possible without the support of our customers and the great state of New Jersey. We applaud and support Governor Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie with their on-going efforts to bring relief to NJ homeowners affected by the storm. We make this donation in their honor and to thank our fellow New Jerseyans for their loyal support,” stated Gary Shiman, co-owner of Somerville Aluminum.
At the grand opening of Somerville Aluminum’s new showroom and office complex in Branchburg in September 2013, the company pledged to donate a portion of its sales from the month of October, its highest volume month of the year, to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. It was the remodeler’s way of commemorating the one-year anniversary of the super storm and thanking local and state officials for their assistance during its move to the new location.
“As we get further from the date of the storm keeping people engaged and aware of the need that still exists in New Jersey becomes more challenging,” said First Lady Mary Pat Christie, Chair of the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund. “I applaud local businesses, like Somerville Aluminum, who have stepped up and given back to those communities still working to rebuild. Thank you for the generous donation in support of the Relief Fund’s efforts and the state’s ongoing recovery.”
The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that raises and distributes funds to organizations supporting the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts of New Jersey communities impacted by the storm. The Relief Fund has awarded more than $26 million to over 90 community-based non-profit organizations in support of programs focused on housing assistance, mental health and social services, and financial and legal counseling.
