Dr. Angela Bowers and Southlake Dermatology Help Abuse Victims Put a New Face Forward
Southlake (PRWEB) September 08, 2014 -- Dr. Angela Bowers, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Southlake Dermatology, is proud to announce that the staff of Southlake Dermatology has partnered with The Gatehouse community in Grapevine, Texas, to provide free skin treatments, courses on skin care and make-up application for all Gatehouse women and children, in addition to sponsoring a family.
The Gatehouse community will house up to 96 families and also includes a community/conference center, in-neighborhood counseling centers, general store, walking trails and commercial space. This community, which allows members to stay up to 2½ years depending on their individually tailored program, provides safe refuge and creates the environment for women and children in crisis to walk the path toward permanent change.
“As women, a lot of self-esteem is tied into our appearance,” says Dr. Bowers, “We know these women are going to have counselors to help them heal mentally and emotionally, so we’ll see what we can help them do with skin & appearance. It’s a brand new start.”
Dr. Bowers and Southlake Dermatology have donated $70,000 to support a family of 4 through their entire stay at The Gatehouse, as part of the Gatehouse Friend program. They will help provide for them, take them out to movies and dinner, buy clothes, and be a friend to the family. In addition, Southlake Dermatology will host events for the entire Gatehouse community to give advice on skincare and tips on make-up application, addressing any particular skin issues and treat them on an as-needed basis.
“Our focus is giving back and equipping these women so they can do the same for someone else the next time around,” says Dr. Bowers, “Their kids will be in a place to change their whole family’s dynamics. We’re all very excited to do something that can make an impact in our local community.”
