EKN says they are keeping an eye on Spark’s risk-appetite for outcome-based contracts and sharper use-cases for specific retail formats.

Spark Analytics, a leading provider of cloud-based predictive analytic solutions for the retail and food service industries, was named by EKN Research as one of the top five “under the radar” retail technology solution providers at the 2016 National Retail Federation (NRF) BIG Show in January. More than 3,500 retail and hospitality corporations were represented at the expo, held at the Jacob J. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

The event was designed to showcase the future of retail and associated technology, spotlight radical solutions for industry breakthroughs, and provide a platform for retail technology providers to present their vision and capabilities.

EKN is a New Jersey-based boutique research and advisory firm focused on business-technology insights in the consumer industries of retail, consumer goods, travel and hospitality. In selecting the “top five experiences and solution providers” at the 2016 NRF BIG Show, EKN researchers say they looked beyond the show’s largest, most visible vendors and focused on assessing the “nuts and bolts” of participating retail and associated providers executing on a clear, customer-centric retailing strategy in various categories. Their rigorous review covered participating providers in almost every square inch of the 22,000 square foot show-floor.

According to EKN’s assessment, researchers were impressed with Spark Analytics’ cloud-based analytics solution that:

  • Focuses on driving operational and margin improvements for leading retailers.
  • Provides a sharp focus on location-specific operational improvement.
  • Offers a simple per location pricing model.
  • Has the ability to ingest POS and other location-specific data, and quantify impact of proposed process improvements.

EKN says they are keeping an eye on Spark’s risk-appetite for outcome-based contracts and sharper use-cases for specific retail formats.

The other four “top five” solution providers named are: Shoptelligence, OmniStore, OmniCo and Enterworks.

“We are very pleased to have been singled out by EKN as a top five “under the radar” retail technology solution provider, says Spark Analytics President Ken Claflin. “Considering the fact that they had more than 3,500 companies to evaluate, it’s a real honor.”
