National Fishing Month - What's Been Going On; SportsDirect.com Take a Look
(PRWEB UK) 29 August 2013 -- National Fishing Month aims to not only encourage people to start fishing but also to raise awareness about the sport. During the last month, 19th July – 26th August, events have been taking place up and down the country; SportsDirect.com take a look at what’s been going off.
Angling Trades Association and The Angling Times have supported the events throughout the month in a bid to inspire families, children and first time fishermen to try their hand at fishing and learning more about the sport, even if they don’t take it up full time.
The Yorkshire Evening Post announced that the figures so far have shown a vast improvement in attendances when compared to the previous years and said that Leeds Club had done their bit by hosting three events, with each reeling in more and more people as the word spread across the region. Fully qualified angling coaches volunteered at the Club to help teach newcomers how to catch and handle fish so they have the key skills before taking the plunge.
White Acres Holiday park in Cornwall also chipped in with a five-week event that boasted free demonstrations, live Q and A sessions, expert product advice, angling tuition and giveaways to help provide fishing novices with bags full of information and advice to start fishing.
There was also an ample amount of open taster courses and taster sessions with fishing tackle and bait provided, where anyone could have a go at coarse fishing! Ladies Days and Junior sessions were also very popular – targeting specific groups who were not necessarily associated with taking up fishing.
With all of the support and effort that has been put into this year's National Fishing Month, let's hope they have managed to suppress their target of 15,000 attendees, 1,000 people more than last year.
