StampLabel Launches Campaign to Prevent Sexual Abuse and Help Survivors
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- StampLabel, the positive clothing brand that donates 10 percent of each purchase to charity, has announced that its next charity of the month is Lauren’s Kids. StampLabel has set a goal to raise $500. These funds will help Lauren’s Kids further their mission of preventing sexual abuse through awareness and education. The funds will also help survivors heal with guidance and support.
Lauren’s Kids was founded in 2007 by Lauren Book, whom was a victim of sexual abuse. Since its inception, Lauren’s Kids has taken proactive efforts to make Florida a safer place. The organization has done so through advocacy for the passage of State Laws that protect and help victims heal and become survivors. For example, in 2009, the organization helped pass Legislation to Create Children’s Safety Zones. These Safety Zones prohibits convicted offenders and predators from loitering within 300 feet of a school, school bus stop, parks or similar locations. Lauren’s Kids has also created a "Prevention Curriculum". The sexual abuse curriculum teaches elementary-age children the tools to prevent abuse and report it.
"Lauren’s Kids works diligently to put an end to a problem that affects many worldwide, which is sexual abuse," stated Joshua Mathis, StampLabel’s Co-Founder and Co-Chief Difference Maker. " We are excited to help fund this great organization because not only are they working to combat a serious problem, they are helping to give individuals their lives back after it has been taken away by sexual predators."
Sexual Abuse is a worldwide epidemic that StampLabel would like to help combat. There are many shocking statistics on sexual abuse such as: 20% of the victims of sexual abuse are under age eight, 1 in 5 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18, 1 in 3 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18, and nearly 70% of all reported sexual assaults (including assaults on adults) occur to children age 17 and under.
These sexual encounters can negatively affect an individual for the rest of their life; especially those who never tell anyone due to fear of retaliation. However, Lauren’s Kids is working to change that by traveling around the world to educate children and adults about sexual abuse topics and letting them know that "It’s Ok to Tell". The organization has also created a 24 hour Crisis Hotline to provide immediate support to victims in need.
StampLabel hopes that by aligning itself with Lauren’s Kids, it will increase support for all sexual abuse victims. The company wants their supporters to not only make a purchase on their website, but also wants them to speak out on this issue. Joshua states, "We really want to help raise awareness for this cause and this great organization. By making a purchase, you are truly making a difference."
