“Tales For Your Monkey’s Mind” (published by Balboa Press) is a collection of six short stories that look at the side effects of modern social structure and how it affects children and adults. The book is written in a children’s fairy-tale format with witches, toy factories, magical storybooks and rhyme, taking readers on a whimsical journey through the puzzling world of humans.
“As a child, I was inspired by the children’s cartoons, movies, and books of the late 1960s and early 1970s, many of which had philosophical undertones,” author Steve Michael Reedy says. “Later, after working with children and adults in rehab recovery programs, mental institutions, and other treatment facilities, I wanted to write a book about what I had learned.”
Reedy adds that the book’s themes are multilayered, universal and timeless. “It deals with self-image, self-worth, socialization, and other issues that are always with us no matter what generation we may find ourselves in.”
