We put in hours and hours of personal elbow grease, remodeling, demolishing, and everything else in between to get it ready to open. What started as a hobby and cooking for church members, has mushroomed into a two-location restaurant.

Representatives with Sugar Kettle Cafe announced today that they are celebrating their Bay Minette location’s one year anniversary.

“My friend Cheryl and I went to Bay Minette and saw that there was a need for a restaurant, started a location, and here we are celebrating one year later,” said Michelle Young, owner of the Sugar Kettle Cafe. “We put in hours and hours of personal elbow grease, remodeling, demolishing, and everything else in between to get it ready to open. What started as a hobby and cooking for church members, has mushroomed into a two-location restaurant.”

Located at 124 North Hoyle Avenue, Bay Minette, Alabama, Young described the location as “a little house with a big southern taste." She went on to explain that she and Cheryl, who was brought into the company as a partner in April 2014, used to cook at church together.

“Wherever she has to be, that's where she is, waiting tables, cooking, managing, washing dishes, and more,” Young said of Cheryl. “We do what we have to for the restaurant.”

The Sugar Kettle Cafe has been in business for six years, and offers home cooking with a Southern flair. In addition to its restaurant hours, Sugar Kettle offers catering and now serves breakfast.

“Everything we make is from scratch, and we buy local as well,” Young stressed, before adding, “I have loved to cook my entire life.”
