New Book Fights Illiteracy by Teaching Fundamentals of Mathematics

About the Author
Terence Harvey Murdock has a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from Florida Institute of Technology. While a graduate student, he developed and taught graduate courses in linear algebra, matrices, and mathematics for managers. He was a systems analyst in the mathematical services department of RCA Services Company at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He retired in 1991 as a manager in the network provisioning department of Bell South Corporation in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. For schools in Tampa, Fla., he developed and taught undergraduate courses in developmental mathematics, finite mathematics, statistics and algebra. “Topics in Arithmetic” and “Topics in Algebra” are books that reflect his concern for students, parents, and teachers over difficulties they have with certain facets of mathematics. He is writing a third book: “Topics Beyond Algebra.”
