New Book Says that Gratitude is More than ‘The Cap’
CHARLESTON, Ark. (PRWEB) October 20, 2016 -- John Spann calls out to his fellowmen to express their gratitude to the soldiers and servicemen who unselfishly fought for their country. More than just “The Cap” (published by Xlibris) the discharged men receive, for Spann, what veterans need is genuine appreciation from their own homeland and people. This, adds the author, is his contribution to stop the veteran suicide and public violence that continue to rise.
“Twenty-two plus war veterans commit suicide every day, the public violence that is ramped in our nation and abroad. There is a fundamental breach in our society that has left us desensitized and disconnected,” Spann says. “We must embrace that we all can do something to change the cores of veterans committing suicide, bulling and public violence. “The Cap” is a story to educate citizens and war veterans of the need to recognize visually who the veterans are and for civilians to thank them for their service. This book talks about PTSD, public violence, the sissy syndrome, the power of forgiveness, with notes of American history and socialism, JFK, Nelson Mandela, Cincinnatus, the great depression, WWI, WWII and the Vietnam War.
A memoir, this book shows eras from author’s younger years growing up on a cotton farm, share cropping, racial integration, up to the birth of the computer and landing on the moon. “The Cap” is filled with feel-good experiences and the days as a military service man. Its rhythm and tempo will keep readers engaged, inspired and coming back for more as it weaves author’s experiences into the grander scale of history and socially relevant themes.

John Spann is an 81-year-old who served full term in the Air Force then attained a degree in psychology. Spann has worked with troubled kids as a councilor. Later, he enjoyed working his ranch and spend time talking with his horses. He now resides in Granbury, with a dream to accomplish.
