The Hanover Theatre Announces 2015 Annual Meeting and Awards, Open to the Public
Worcester, Mass. (PRWEB) November 15, 2015 -- The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts will hold their 2015 annual meeting on Monday, November 16. The event will be held on The Hanover Theatre’s stage from 6-8pm. There will be refreshments and a cash bar before the program begins. The annual meeting will include the President’s Report, the Encore Awards and the Hr. Carter Hunt, Jr. Volunteer of the Year Award.
The Encore Award is given to a member(s) of the community whose contribution to the theatre helps to fulfill its vision. This year, the Encore Award is honoring the trustees of the Myles & C. Jean McDonough Foundation, whose transformative gift of $500,000 to the theatre has significantly impacted the development of 551 Main St., the building adjacent to the theatre.
This year’s Volunteer of the Year Award honors administrative volunteer, Judi Uthoff. Judi began volunteering as an event volunteer during the 2008 inaugural season. After seeing that the theatre’s administrative staff was in need of assistance with daily tasks, Judi stepped forward and became one of The Hanover Theatre’s first administrative volunteers. The theatre is grateful to have such a dedicated person on their team. Judi’s work ethic and ability to spot and fulfill an urgent need exemplifies the very best of our volunteer staff and their desire to help The Hanover Theatre grow and thrive as an organization.
In addition to the aforementioned awards, outgoing board members, new board members and this year’s committee chairs will be recognized. For a complete list, click here. For more information about the theatre, call us at 877.571.SHOW (7469) or visit TheHanoverTheatre.org.
About The Hanover Theatre
The Hanover Theatre continues to draw over 170,000 patrons annually with world-class performances and headlining acts including Broadway hits (“Les Misérables,” “Jersey Boys,” “Camelot”); comedians (Dave Chappelle, Jay Leno, Daniel Tosh); musical acts (Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, John Legend); and everything in between (“A Christmas Carol,” Maya Angelou, Rudy Giuliani, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre). Consistently ranked by POLLSTAR as one of the Top Theatres in the World, the theatre opened in March of 2008 following a $32 million historic renovation. Over the last seven seasons, the theatre has established its place as a world-class performing arts venue, acting as a catalyst for the economic development of downtown Worcester. In the spring of 2015, the theatre finalized the purchase of a vacant, three-floor former office building with street-level retail space at 551 Main Street. The building will ultimately house office space for theatre administration, function areas, a restaurant on the ground floor and an educational space on the lower level. The building is set to open in 2016.
