3M Electronics Markets Materials Division (EMMD) has released a new product designed specifically for the electronics industry, 3M 8904 Thermally Conductive Adhesive Tape. This adhesive contains thermally conductive particles as well as flame resistant fillers. With a PET carrier, 3M 8904 was designed for ease of handling and use, reworkability, and the ability to easily convert so that it can be die cut into custom shapes and sizes.
3M 8904 offers twice the thermal conductivity at half the material cost. This thermally conductive adhesive is available in multiple thicknesses for excellent wet-out or conformability to many different substrates. The adhesive family offers thickness options similar to 3M Acrylic Thermal Pads but has a higher adhesion performance enhancing design and assembly flexibility. 3M 8904 is available in thicknesses of .20mm, .25mm, and .50mm.
3M 8904 can be used for thermal management in electronic devices and general heat dissipation. It can also be used to bond and join parts in electronic products.
