Thomas Eye Group Doctor Recognized as “Optometrist of the Year” by the Georgia Optometric Association
Atlanta (PRWEB) December 02, 2015 -- Thomas Eye Group, a leading metro Atlanta eye care provider that offers comprehensive services including LASIK and medical, surgical and cosmetic eye care, has announced that Glenda B. Brown, O.D. has been awarded the title of “Optometrist of the Year” by the Georgia Optometric Association (GOA). The award was presented at a recent GOA event held at the College Football Hall of Fame. The GOA, in existence for more than a century, represents 700 doctors in Georgia and serves to support and strengthen the profession of optometry as a whole.

The prestigious award recognizes the totality of the recipient's past and present, unique and broad contribution to optometry and the community. Additionally, it honors added services and involvement in the wider, non-optometric community context, including leadership and participation in the broadest spectrum of political, fraternal, religious, civic, charitable, health and educational activities.
Dr. Brown serves patients in the Suwannee office and has practiced in metro Atlanta for more than 30 years. She specializes in pediatric and family eye care and has extensive experience in fitting patients with contact lenses, managing medical eye care needs and is dedicated to helping patients obtain their optimal vision correction.
“I’m blessed that for more than 30 years, so many patients have entrusted me with their eye care,” said Dr. Brown. “I am humbled and honored to receive this award and to follow in the footsteps of all the other great Georgia optometrists who have received this award.”
Dr. Brown has served in many areas of leadership for the Georgia Optometric Association including president of the organization from 2013- 2014. In addition, she is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association. In 2007, she was honored to receive the Georgia Optometric Association Bernard Kahn Award for leadership, service and dedication to the profession of optometry in Georgia.
A life-long Georgia resident, Dr. Brown attended Milton High School and went on to graduate from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1977 and a Doctorate of Optometry in 1981. She currently resides in Suwanee and enjoys family time with her husband Dr. Alan Brown, also on staff with Thomas Eye Group, children and three grandchildren. She is a member of Perimeter Church and enjoys reading, gardening and travel.
