Timothy Mahfood Shares New Poetry Collection, Depression, Hope
Boca Raton, Fla. (PRWEB) June 07, 2014 -- Author Timothy Mahfood spent many years of his young life in the dark. Not a literal darkness due to lack of sight, a darkness of depression due to Bipolar disorder. He commends his grandfather for inspiring him to come out of the darkness of his illness and now hopes to pass his grandfather’s coaching words on to others.
The new book, “Out of the Darkness: A Book of Thoughts” (published by iUniverse), is a collection of Mahfood’s poems and thoughts from when he was struggling with his Bipolar disorder. It flows through conversations with his grandfather, who helped him understand that he is not alone and is able to find love in his life.
“There are so many times in today’s society that youngsters do bad things. Later we hear that they had some form of depression and yet they were not helped and cared for. When I hear about these things happening I become even more worried that the people of this world tend to avoid us and not help us,” Mahfood says of people with depressive disorders.
“Out of the Darkness” holds the disturbing thoughts Mahfood needed to express and explain in order to try to release them from his mind without harming anyone else or himself. He hopes to reach people who don’t understand what he is going through in order to stop them from judging people afflicted with depressive disorders. He also hopes to reach people with similar problems to his.
“First, those of the same mind, you are not alone. You can find your way out if you truly listen and follow someone of goodness,” Mahfood says. “Second, those who are not of our minds, I hope they receive an understanding of our struggle and that we need their help and love; we need them to be the people of goodness we can follow.”
