My dear brothers, never forget, when you hear the progress of enlightenment vaunted, that the devil's best trick is to persuade you that he doesn't exist!

Many people who do not believe in God cite scientific reasoning for their non-belief. Tom Dauria’s new book, “Within a Presumption of Godlessness” (published by Archway Publishing) addresses scientific reasons to believe in God. This book is an in-depth study of the dichotomy between those who see the world through eyes of faith and those who do not.
“I fear for the future of our grandchildren and their children,” Dauria explains. “Today’s society is becoming more godless and more dangerous for future generations as a result. History shows the Judeo-Christian faiths bring with them innovation and technology, but as exposed in the godless regimes of Communism and Nazism, technology without belief in the sanctity of human life brings with it human oppression or annihilation.”
“Within a Presumption of Godlessness” takes a scientific approach to believing in God, targeting the lost and confused of this world and giving them reasons to have faith in God. Dauria asserts that there is nothing wrong with the belief in God and offers scientific evidence and common sense reasons why readers should believe in God or return to belief in God, whichever the case may be.
“I believe the belief in God, as witnessed in the Judeo-Christian faiths, brought with it the belief in freedom, equality and the sanctity of life,” Dauria writes.
To support his position declaring the importance of belief in God, Dauria cites an excerpt from French poet Charles Baudelaire’s short story, “The Generous Gambler,” originally written in French but translated to say:
“My dear brothers, never forget, when you hear the progress of enlightenment vaunted, that the devil's best trick is to persuade you that he doesn't exist!”
