Sanctri Celebrates the Life and Career of Baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- Sanctri announced today the creation of a Sanctri, or memorial page, to celebrate the life and career of baseball legend Tony Gwynn, who died 6/16/14 at age 54.
Tony Gwynn is considered one of the greatest pure hitters in the history of the game. He was a 15-time All-Star with a record of 3,141 hits and the highest career batting average of .338 since Ted Williams. He had 8 batting titles, second only to Ty Cobb. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first attempt.
Although Tony retired from baseball in 2001, his record, his soft-spoken personal demeanor and his loyalty are legendary. And while Tony played his entire career for the San Diego Padres – itself a rarity – the passing of Tony Gwynn represents a loss for all baseball fans everywhere. His Sanctri on Facebook offers anyone the opportunity to share their feelings with other fans, friends and loved ones. In fact, the very act of sharing strong emotions has been proven to have therapeutic value, even when the relationship is between celebrity and fan.
The public is invited to contribute to Tony Gwynn’s memorial, using the free Sanctri app on Facebook. By joining the community and adding videos, stories, and photos, fans themselves will tell the story of what the soft-spoken man with the hitter’s eye and reliable bat meant to the world. And by making a donation in his memory, we can help his name and his legacy live on.
