Total Security Selected By Transit Wireless To Install A Multi-Level Commercial Security System and Security Infrastructure Supporting Large Scale MTA Upgrade
Elmont, New York (PRWEB) June 19, 2014 -- When it comes to safety and security, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has taken the public awareness slogan: "If You See Something, Say Something™" to a whole new level.
Recently, Transit Wireless selected Total Security to install security cameras, burglar alarms and biometric security systems, such as fingerprint readers along with card access readers. The high-tech security system was installed in Queens, where Transit Wireless is planning to house many servers that cellular companies will utilize in the near future.
Transit Wireless was contracted by the MTA (approximately a $200 Million contract) to provide cellular and Wi-Fi service in New York City subways. During the first phase of the project, Transit Wireless brought the service to 36 stations in the Chelsea, Midtown and Upper West Side neighborhoods of Manhattan.
The second phase will bring Wi-Fi to Queens, including 11 stations in Midtown Manhattan. Phase two is expected to be completed this month and will serve about 250 million riders annually with cellular service on AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon Wireless as well as Wi-Fi.
The upgrade will not only provide convenience to wireless phone users, it has ushered in a new level of security that will enable people to dial 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency.
Total Security’s new commercial security system is robust. The security company has installed a multi-level security platform that includes:
• Burglar Alarm System
• 26 IP Hi Definition Cameras with a Hi-Def Network Video Recorder (NVR)
• Honeywell Card Access System plus Fingerprint Recognition
“For over 10 years, we have been providing commercial businesses and home owners with well engineered, professionally installed security systems. We are honored for being selected to protect New York City transit workers and passengers with an added layer of security,” says Matt DiMicco, CEO of Total Security. “It’s great to see progress being made throughout New York City.”
