Uptown Alley Raises $2,000 for VA Breast Cancer Foundation
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- Uptown Alley, Virginia’s largest indoor entertainment complex, announced today that their fundraising event on November 2nd and Monday’s golf tournament at the Birkdale have yielded over $2,000 in donations for the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF). Executive Director of VBCF Katy Sawyer accepted the check from Uptown Alley at a private party for all golf participates at Uptown Alley’s Rotunda.
“We’re constantly looking for new ways to make an impact in our community,” says Jimmy Cabanban, General Manager at Uptown Alley. “We were inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness Month to reach out to VBCF, and it is an honor to make such a significant donation to an organization that is making a difference on both a local and national scale.”
On Saturday, November 2nd, each person’s $5 cover charge went towards the VBCF donation. The charity golf tournament was held on Monday, November 4th at the Birkdale Golf Club, who also donated a portion of the proceeds to VBCF. The tournament saw a total of 48 participants.
“Uptown Alley and Birkdale Golf Club are local businesses committed to helping their community, and we are pleased to be the charity of choice for these events,” says Katy Sawyer, Executive Director of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. “This support helps VBCF provide Virginians with breast health education materials free of charge to raise awareness year round about the benefits of early detection.”
