Vajra Sol Yoga Adventures Celebrates Five Years of Retreats to the Sacred Valley of Peru, Credits Success to Unique Vacation Experience
(PRWEB) June 12, 2014 -- Vajra Sol, known for its yoga and surf retreats in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, is seeing growing interest in its unique yoga adventures to the Sacred Valley of Peru. For the past five years, Vajra Sol has been offering the 8-night yoga retreat, which is highlighted by a tour of the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. With Peru and Machu Picchu becoming a progressively popular tourist destination in the South American market, Vajra Sol has been welcoming solo travelers, friends, and couples on its adventure retreats. The retreats promise to give travelers time to open mind, body, and spirit through daily yoga sessions and to connect to the powerful healing energy of "pachamama,” Mother Nature, through traditional Andean ceremonies.
The retreat is distinct from other tours because it balances renewing yoga sessions, moderate hikes, and communal meals with sightseeing and personal time for a range of activities from shopping to cooking classes to ziplining. Sandra Tedeschi, Vajra Sol owner and tour leader notes, "During five years of offering yoga adventures to the Sacred Valley of Peru, we have discovered that our travelers want the camaraderie and organization of a retreat complimented by ample personal time to explore and relax." Tedeschi believes that the traditional group tour model of occupying every moment of the vacationer’s day is no longer appealing to most travelers.
Vajra Sol’s Peru retreat begins in Cusco before the group continues on to the Sacred Valley, staying for five nights in a traditional Andean style lodge, nestled at the foot of the Andes Mountains, just outside the town of Urubamba. After exploring the sites of the Sacred Valley, partaking in daily yoga sessions, savoring local cuisine with fellow travelers, shopping vibrant Quechua markets, and enjoying some free time, the group travels by train to spend a night in the lively town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to the mystical Machu Picchu. The following day is spent exploring Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Inca,” on a private tour before returning to Cusco for the last two nights of the retreat. The final day in Cusco features a guided walking tour through the narrow cobblestone streets to take in the fusion of the ancient and modern cultures of Peru. The altitude of the retreat lodge in the Sacred Valley is 9,200 feet, and there is walking and hiking required to explore the ruins of the area; Vajra Sol suggests that those who join this trip are in good health and physical condition.
Vajra Sol Yoga Adventures was founded in 2005 by Sandra Tedeschi with an aim to bring together like-minded travelers who have an affinity for yoga, travel, and adventure activities in a retreat setting. Tedeschi has been practicing yoga for more than 16 years and is a registered yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance. Vajra Sol offers yoga, surf, and stand up paddle (SUP) retreats in Costa Rica throughout the year and yoga adventures to the Sacred Valley of Peru between the months of June and October.
