Valair Aviation Opens FBO to Aerial Firefighters in Their Efforts to Keep State Safe from Fire Emergencies
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) June 10, 2014 -- A full-service FBO and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operation located at Wiley Post Airport, Valair Aviation supported state and contracted firefighting aircraft and crews during the wildfire. The fire began on May 4 and burned for the next three days, covering much of Southern Logan County.
Valair supported the firefighting team by supplying accommodations for the team’s Air Coordination Center (ACC) and provided on call aircraft maintenance during the firefighting efforts. Firefighting aircraft were given around the clock priority service for all fueling and servicing during the emergency response.
In a Media/VIP Day held on May 9 held in Valair’s facility for the Oklahoma Forestry Service, Valair extended its commitment and facilities to continue to support future efforts to keep state safe from wildfires. During the event, firefighting aircraft and equipment were showcased to government officials, media and invited guests.

Valair’s contribution to the firefighting efforts was recognized by George L. Geissler, State Forester and Director of the Oklahoma Forestry Services.
“Valair and it’s personnel put us at the top of the priority list, on such short notice and were able to make a tremendous impact and correlate our message of how aerial resources are utilized to assist in firefighting,” Geissler wrote in a letter to Chuck Stephenson, FBO Manager for Valair.
“We also want to thank you for allowing the pilots and crews to rest in such a remarkable facility with courteous staff,” Geissler wrote. “As you know, our crews worked tirelessly for days, and being able to count on aerial resources is critical to the public and the firefighter’s safety and success.”
