Veracity Matters Creator Bobbi Callis Advances for Second Round of Roslyn S. Jaffe Award
PRESTON, MD (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- Longtime educator Bobbi Callis launched her character education program last week on the popular crowdfunding website Indiegogo. Callis is seeking pre-orders to provide funding for the expensive program she has blueprinted. Her passion for education and extensive efforts in developing this program aren’t going unnoticed, as proven by her advancement to the second round in the Roslyn S. Jaffe Award for everyday heroes empowering women and children.
“I’m a working mom and an educator who really cares about her children,” said Callis. “I’ve dreamed of creating Veracity Matters because of my desire to make the learning environment better for kids everywhere. With better character education, we’ll give these children the environment they really deserve.”
Callis was recently notified that she has made it to the second round of finalists of the inaugural Roslyn S. Jaffe Award, granted by Ascena Retail Group. According to the website, the award “celebrates everyday heroes with a can-do attitude who are working to empower women and children in the areas of health, education, social support and self-esteem.”
Callis’ character education program, Veracity Matters, is designed to be a supplemental program. Scheduled to last 28 weeks, the lessons are designed to be short and efficient so that teachers or home school families can intertwine them easily within their instructional day. Divided up into seven sections, the program uses high-interest themes, such as pirates and fairy tales to help keep children attentive and tied into the lessons. The lessons are intended to give children confidence and help them build trust in others, as well as provide them with practical strategies for dealing with stress, anger and depression. This combats the staggering statistics on bullying and the overall decline in character that is taking place in the education system today.
For those who support Callis’ mission and would like to be a part of her program, the Veracity Matters curriculum is now available for pre-order on Indiegogo. Teachers can purchase a subscription for the 2013-2014 school year for just $30 by backing the Indiegogo campaign. School-wide subscriptions are available for $1,500. Parents can now enter their children to star in the program videos as well. For details, visit http://bit.ly/VMindie.
