Army Veterinarian Dr. Turnera Croom Launches Pilot STEM Program ‘Pooches and 3D Printing’
Kalamazoo, MI (PRWEB) March 13, 2017 -- Dr. Turnera Croom, founder and CEO of Vets In 3D, retired Army Veterinary Corps Major, veterinarian, and self-taught 3D printing expert, recently launched “Pooches and 3D Printing,” a pilot program where Dr. Croom introduces students to the STEM careers involved with Veterinary medicine and 3D printing combined. Kids will learn about a variety of careers in Animals Science, Veterinary medicine, and will have a hands-on session with the 3D printer.
On Friday, March 31, from 12 to 3 p.m., Dr. Croom will be hosting “Pooches and 3D Printing” at the Northside Association for Community Development, 612 North Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI. She will be presenting career information for K-12 students that are interested in Animal Science fields and are curious about how 3D printing works within the Veterinary field.
“The 3D printer will be onsite and lunch will be served to the kids,” concluded Grand Rapids native, Dr. Croom, who recently obtained her SBA Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program Certification and Veteran Owned Business Certification from the National Veteran Business Development Council. “I also plan to have a Vets In 3D scanning demo where I will have one of my fellow veterans, Petty Officer third class Kevin Ray Fannin, with his dog ‘Raw’ 3D scan his dog and then we will start 3D printing the scan. Kids will be able to see firsthand the newest advance in 3D technology -- 3D scanning.”
