Vickie Swan’s Newest Novel To Be Featured at 2015 Toronto Word on the Street Festival
BARRIERE, British Columbia (PRWEB) August 04, 2015 -- Author Vickie Swan’s “Split Second Decision ll Apprehended” (published by AuthorHouse), the second installment in her trilogy, will be featured at the 2015 The Word on the Street Toronto book festival at the Harbourfront Centre, Sunday, Sept. 27.
Set in a village in Belize, “Split Second Decision ll Apprehended” presents a fictional story based on nonfiction testimonials of human trafficking reports. Swan explains that she chose to set her book in Belize because of the past history of human peddling with many small isolated communities and because it is a corridor to other parts of the world.
“Human trafficking is very prominent, even in the modern day,” Swan says. “The increase of abductions into the world of the black market, with two thirds of that being women and children, makes it the second largest criminal activity in the world, and it is the worst it has ever been in history.”
Abducted and hurled into the dangerous underworld of illegal trade and criminality, Anita is forced to make difficult decisions. She is forced to defend her mortal enemy – Dante – in a court of law in order to save those she loves. Now that Anita is Dante’s pawn, he takes her on a tour of his “empire,” wherein he proudly demonstrates how he built his empire through illegal and brutal means. Anita strives to win out against him through any means possible and the outcome may be surprising.
