Vycom Donates Seaboard Material to Northern Colorado Search & Rescue for Emergency Vehicle Consoles
(PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- Vycom, a division of CPG International, has donated its rugged Seaboard HDPE material to the Northern Colorado Search & Rescue (NOCO SAR) volunteer organization for its emergency vehicles. The material was used in two Ford F150 trucks as equipment consoles that contain lights, sirens, three radios and USB ports.
“Seaboard HDPE was the perfect alternative to metal because it is low-maintenance and has a nice texture for vehicle consoles. It also is very easy to work with and fabricate,” said Matthew Marra, Operations Captain, NOCO SAR. Marra, who is a machinist by trade, was able to save NOCO SAR additional labor costs by fabricating the Seaboard consoles himself.
As part of Vycom’s Seaboard line, the HDPE plastic material provides superior performance where water, UV exposure and other harsh elements are present. Unlike wood or metal, Seaboard will not rust, corrode, rot, delaminate or splinter. It also offers superior scratch resistance and stiffness.
“We are very grateful that Vycom donated this material to save some wear and tear on our emergency vehicles,” said Marra. “Donations like this allow us to manage resources and focus on saving lives.”
NOCO SAR/ESS is a 100% un-paid volunteer non-profit which relies on donations to continue to operate. The group works closely with law enforcement and fire agencies for search and rescue, disaster response, traffic and crowd control and medical standby assistance. They also help relieve officers during emergencies such as blocked roads and flooding.
