I have known Jim for a decade or more. He was inspirational to me to do more to help my community.

CHARLESTON, WV (PRWEB) June 25, 2014

On June 17, 2014, Senator Jay Rockefeller presented the 2014 Jefferson Award for Public Service to Jim Strawn, the Director of Marketing at Highland Hospital, Charleston, West Virginia, native, and dear friend to Harry F. Bell, Jr.

The Jefferson Award for Public Service is among the most prestigious awards used to promote the importance of giving back to the community. By recognizing the efforts of community members who volunteer, the award hopes to inspire others to begin volunteering, a lesson dear to local attorney Bell, Managing Partner at The Bell Law Firm.

“I have known Jim for a decade or more. He was inspirational to me to do more to help my community,” he noted. By highlighting Strawn’s efforts, The Bell Law Firm seeks to bring the silent contributions of volunteers across West Virginia into the limelight.

As the chief source of inspiration for the Bell Law Firm’s summer of activism and volunteering, Jim Strawn has set an incredibly high standard. Jim Strawn was recognized for his volunteer efforts on behalf of public schools, non-profit organizations, community art initiatives and more.

For decades, Mr. Strawn has devoted his time to reading programs for children, arts organizations in need of volunteers, and has held leadership positions on many boards.

“As someone who serves on 4 nonprofit Boards, including a local hospital, and as President on an educational one, I have found Jim's dedication to helping those less fortunate, especially seniors and children, to be motivating,” states Bell.

The Jefferson Award for Public Service was created in 1972 and has recognized the efforts of 15 volunteers in the United States each year. Strawn joins an elite group of volunteers.

“He always is there to help out, and has a positive attitude. He and his wife Lisa are great personal friends and I am so pleased to see him get this wonderful recognition,” noted Bell, emphasizing the reason Strawn has been the catalyst for The Bell Law Firm’s renewed commitment to volunteering.

Strawn’s dedication to the public schools and youth in West Virginia is unparalleled. As such, it is only fitting that The Bell Law Firm has taken Jim Strawn’s outsized contribution to the community to be the golden standard of volunteerism in West Virginia.
