The Around 50 Award was established by Long Island Business News to recognize the accomplishments of Long Island community leaders around 50 years old. The awardees are men and women who are not only local business leaders, but also mentors and supporters of Long Island’s not-for-profit organizations and deeply committed to improving the community.
This year, KellyAnn Friend, Whitsons’ Senior Vice President of Operations, has been selected as a member of the Around 50 Class of 2013. Ms. Friend is known for her dedication to excellence and flair for creating truly unique strategic solutions as well as her constant support and mentoring of team members. Furthermore, Ms. Friend has served in the SCO Family of Services’ Annual Shepherd’s Ball Committee, which helps raise funds to provide vital services for over 40,000 vulnerable children and families in communities across Long Island. Kelly has also been an active member of the Society for Foodservice Management, the trade association for the Business & Institution (B&I) segment of the foodservice industry, where she served as a board member.
