The Southern American states have once practiced the farming system of sharecropping. This style of farming gives the tenant access to the landowner’s lands as long as he gives out a percentage of the crop yield. This kind of arrangement between tenant and landowner can either be beneficial or damaging to their relationship. In “Together We Can Make It,” author Yvette Brooks Tyler has written an enthralling book that captures the flavor and traditions of a bygone era where sharecropping and the landowner and tenant relationship still exist.
