With our DOCSIS-based solutions there’s a significant decrease in truck rolls and equipment expenses. We’re pleased to be addressing the key challenges and strategic opportunities facing the cable industry.

ZCorum, a leading provider of managed broadband services and diagnostics, will be participating in CableLabs Summer Conference, a private event attended by CableLabs members and demonstrating vendors being held next week in Keystone, Colorado. CableLabs, a non-profit R&D consortium run and funded by the cable industry, conducts twice-yearly conferences that showcase the newest technology solutions for the cable industry. The event is attended by technology experts from around the world and viewed as the one of the single highest concentration of cable industry executives anywhere.

ZCorum is well known for their diagnostics tools for cable operators, including their patented TruVizion software for cable modem and CMTS diagnostics, and their accompanying TechVizion mobile app. In addition to TruVizion, ZCorum will be demonstrating their PreEqualization Analyzer software; a Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) tool powered By CableLabs and made by Nimble This. PreEqualization Analyzer uses pre-equalization data from cable modems to locate upstream impairments in the cable plant so they can be addressed during routine maintenance, before subscribers are impacted.

Also available for demonstration at the conference are two software-based spectrum analyzers. ZCorum’s Upstream Analyzer reads the return-path spectrum directly from the CMTS, and their Remote Spectrum app leverages the DOCSIS-IF3-MIB in newer cable modems and set-top boxes that allows for the capture of spectrum for all data and video channels directly from the CPE. Both applications can run on desktop and mobile devices, allowing technicians to view the spectrum remotely from wherever they have Internet access.

“Cable operators today have huge expenditures for test equipment they provide to their field technicians so they can troubleshoot subscriber and plant issues,” said Scott Helms, Vice President of Technology for ZCorum. “We’re really fortunate to have a robust standard like DOCSIS to work with. It makes a huge difference as we develop advanced diagnostics solutions for cable operators.”

“ZCorum is committed to advancing the evolution of broadband network management for our cable operator partners,” said Julie Compann, President and Chief Executive Officer at ZCorum. “With our DOCSIS-based solutions there’s a significant decrease in truck rolls and equipment expenses. We’re pleased to be addressing the key challenges and strategic opportunities facing the cable industry.”
