New A Forever Recovery Video Features One-on-One Interview with NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence “L.T.” Taylor
Battle Creek, MI (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- A Forever Recovery, an open-ended drug and alcohol treatment program that gets clients off to a great start and gives them a solid foundation in recovery they can believe in, has published a new video featuring a one-on-one interview between NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence “L.T.” Taylor and A Forever Recovery’s CEO Per Wickstrom.
In the interview, Taylor demonstrated the legendary bravery that marked his spectacular career by opening up and sharing insights of his battles off the gridiron with substance abuse issues.
“Drugs and alcohol get you to a point where you’re no longer in control,” commented Taylor. “The drugs and alcohol are in control. They tell you when to get up, when to go to sleep, how to spend your money…everything.”
Taylor also shared that, like many people addicted to drugs or alcohol, his initial rehabilitation attempts were unsuccessful.
“I had to go through rehab a couple times,” commented Taylor. “One time I was there for 10 days, another time I was there for 30 days. I just didn’t get it. I thought it was a place to hide out and get the heat off for a while. Eventually I realized that I had the tools to stop doing drugs. It was all inside me. But I had to go to rehab to bring those tools out.”
“L.T.’s insights aren’t just powerful and valuable -- I would say that for some people, they’re life saving,” commented Per Wickstrom. “And it’s not just what L.T. is saying, but also that he’s demonstrating a critically important part of the lifelong recovery process, which is giving back to the community and trying to make a positive difference. Making that re-connection to the community, to other people, and in the deepest sense to oneself, is the key to living sober.”
It’s a perspective that Taylor echoed in a stirring speech that he gave A Forever Recovery clients, some of which is also captured in the new video.
“The secret to staying sober isn’t in books,” said Taylor to a rapt audience. "It's right here. It’s in all of you. You are part of a family, and the biggest asset is going to be the people that are here with you in these rooms.”

The bottom line is that there is no single therapeutic approach to recovery that works for everyone… until now.
