After observing her sons try to figure out what to do with their lives, author Madelyn S. Palmer realized that every young person has to find themselves and their place in society. This insight prompted her to pen a novel about a youth trying to find his identity and life’s purpose, titled “Matthew's Redemption” (published by Trafford Publishing).
The story follows 18-year-old Prince Matthew who has given up trying to be a knight. He is rebuffed by the girl he likes, and is unsure of what to do with his life. Sailing on his uncle’s merchant ship, he encounters temptations that challenge the values his parents taught him. Then he discovers a plot by a group of pirates to take over his island continent, and he must employ every skill he knows to protect his home and people.
Palmer wrote the story to demonstrate moral values and reflect the identity challenges that young people are facing. “[They] have to make decisions about what values to embrace in their lives,” says the author. “It is possible to choose the right though unpopular one.”
In this tale of adventure and romance, readers are invited to witness if Prince Matthew is in the right place at the right time to make a difference.
