Academy of Responsible Tattooing Announces Details of May Graduation Ceremony
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) April 16, 2015 -- On Sunday, May 24, at the Port-O Lounge in Jersey City, NJ, the Academy of Responsible Tattooing will hold a graduation ceremony to honor 10 new graduates from its Jersey City, Brooklyn and Philadelphia locations.
This May's graduates include Vanessa Guzman, Tina Rakotoarivony, Paloma Yglesias, Erik Portillo, Ryan Futterman, Christina Digiaimo and Ronak Patel from the Jersey City location; Christian Cancel from the Brooklyn location; and Brett Simon and William Green from the Philadelphia location.
Christina Seeber, Marketing Manager, says these students have all successfully completed the rigorous set of standards that comprises the Academy of Responsible Tattooing's apprenticeship program. After graduation, they will be fully qualified to work as professional tattoo artists.
"Our 10 May graduates will be graduating from the Professional Craftsman Program, which is what we call the tattoo apprenticeship curriculum," Seeber explains. "Now, they will be fully-qualified tattoo artists and can take advantage of the guaranteed placement the Academy of Responsible Tattooing offers, working and earning income from day one after they finish."
Co-Founder Paul-Anthony Surdi says Paloma Yglesias, in particular, has stood out for her achievements and the skills she has displayed during her time as an apprenticeship.
"Paloma is an unstoppable artistic force who sets her mind to something and achieves it," he says. "I remember when she first called us from Puerto Rico to ask about the apprenticeship. At the time, I wasn't sure if I should take her seriously, yet now just look at her -- she's one of our best tattoo artists. This artist will achieve anything she puts her mind to!"
Surdi also highlights Green as an exceptional tattoo apprentice who now has the skills needed to give high-quality tattoos to his customers.
"William came to us from the South," Surdi says. "After being hit with 2x4s and treated terribly at his last apprenticeship, he knew there had to be a better way. Once he found us, he relocated to Brooklyn -- and has now even relocated to Philadelphia to begin his career where we need him most. He's a team player and we're excited to watch him excel."
To complete the Academy of Responsible Tattooing's apprenticeship program, students must successfully demonstrate their competency at drawing techniques, tattoo shop management, machine maintenance, bloodborne pathogen certification, and sanitation practices. Additionally, students will gain a comprehensive working knowledge of the tattoo industry.
Seeber says this education will equip this May's graduates with the skills needed to succeed in today's tattoo industry at any tattoo shop anywhere in the world.
"Students who enrolled in the Professional Craftsman Program are there for one reason -- nothing is going to stop them from becoming professional tattoo artists," Seeber says. "Because the Academy of Responsible Tattooing is the only tattoo academy to offer guaranteed placement for its graduates, no apprentice graduates until they have achieved the skill level required for professional employment in the industry. This ensures that they are ready to go as an artist in any shop, anywhere in the world, with the confidence and skill to apply beautiful tattoos at a sanitized, effective, responsible and professional standard worthy of A.R.T. Certification."
The Port-O Lounge is located at 286 1st St., Jersey City, NJ, 07302.
