Act of Love Celebrates National Adoption Awareness Month
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- November is National Adoption Month and the renowned adoption agency known as Act of Love is working to raise awareness. The Utah-based agency offers many services, including particular care for birth parents throughout the country choosing adoption for their unborn child.
“We not only work to provide loving homes for children, we also work hard to create a warm, trusting, and safe atmosphere for birth parents courageously choosing adoption,” says Kathy Kunkel, founder and CEO of Act of Love.
“The most unselfish act of all is when a pregnant mother chooses life and brings happiness to another family,” says C-SPAN Networks’ Steve Scully who adopted a child through the agency. “Act of Love has brought together families in the most amazing way. The joy of adoptive parents holding a newborn child and raising their son or daughter is beyond measure. Miracles occur through this incredible adoption agency—it’s evident with every match, every family, every time.”
Act of Love understands that the adoption process can be stressful, so counselors and staff are always on hand to help.
“There’s an educational part of what we do,” adds Kunkel. “We want birth parents and adopting families to be informed so they will know what to expect along the way. We also work with many leaders in the communities we serve. We want everyone to become more aware of the miracle of adoption.”
Although National Adoption Month occurs annually, many people may not know its history. It began with Adoption Week in Massachusetts, which was started more than 25 years ago by Governor Michael Dukakis. During his term, President Gerald Ford, announced that adoption week would be celebrated nationally. President Ronald Reagan proclaimed a “National Adoption Week” and nine years later, President Bill Clinton, who was adopted, declared November as National Adoption Month.
