Fresh Patch Celebrates “Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog-Month” in October
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- Fresh Patch, the maker of the real-grass, fully disposable dog potty (http://www.freshpatch.com), is celebrating “Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog-Month” in October by high-lighting organizations that further the dog-adoption process. One such organization noted by the Fresh Patch Company is the Best Friends Animal Society. National in scope, Best Friends seeks to end the death of pets in shelters through adoption efforts and other means--a goal that is captured by the Society in one-sentence: “Save Them All.” Best Friends runs the largest animal sanctuary in the country, and has several other activities and initiatives directed toward achieving its overall life-saving, no-kill goal. One such initiative is “The No More Homeless Pets® Network,” which is comprised of public charity rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations, and shelters actively saving lives and reducing shelter deaths locally. According to the Fresh Patch company, it contributes to the efforts of Best Friends in the way that it can--by making weekly donations of its real-grass dog potty to support the mobile adoption efforts of the Society’s Los Angeles chapter.
Another national organization underscored by the Fresh Patch Company is PetFinder. Petfinder provides an online, searchable database of animals who need homes. It is also a directory of nearly 14,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The listed organizations maintain their own home pages, as well as databases of available pets. Fresh Patch Company President Andrew Feld says that Petfinder provides an important resource because it centralizes information about dog adoption organizations and uses Internet technology to provide a searchable, national directory of pet adoption programs. Feld says that Petfinder even has an “app” for smart phones, so that people can conveniently use their phones to view photos of pets currently adoptable from their local shelters.
Fresh Patch says that, for individuals who cannot adopt a dog, Petfinder has listed 10 steps they can take to help further the dog-adoption process--including the use of social media techniques. “In the digital age, says Feld, people who are concerned about dogs need to harness the power of social media to promote dog adoptions. Every organization and person can play a part--whether large or small--in spearheading the dog-adoption and no-kill movements.”
