Mary Edwards, blogger for Go Adventure Mom.com, has been asked by Coca-Cola to participate as one of 8 professional bloggers from across the U.S. in its Women of the Web: India Blogger Trip 2014.
Go Adventure Mom’s focus on women inspired Coca-Cola to invite Edwards. As part of Coca-Cola’s #5by20 economic initiative to economically empower 5 million women globally by 2020, she will visit India and blog about her experience.
It's the perfect fit for Edwards, who often writes about the impact women have upon their communities and encouraging families to get outdoors. She’s passionate about supporting female entrepreneurs in the outdoor industry who impact outdoor gear designed specifically for women.
Next week (September 8-12) bloggers will see first-hand how Coca-cola’s investment in women is playing out. Bloggers will observe how an estimated 131,000 women are benefiting communities such as those in New Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Dasna, and Bangalore.
“This is what empowerment looks like,” Edwards said. “Women feel empowered when they are allowed to help provide for their families. They gain self-confidence and respect in their communities. I’m impressed with Coca-Cola’s initiative to support women in developing countries.”
