Last November, DocPath, one of the leading document management software manufacturers, signed an agreement named FORTE with the Advanced School of Computer Engineering of the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM) in Spain. The agreement aims to reenforce the professional skills and knowledge of Computer Engineering graduates to enhance their employability.

DocPath is one of the eight companies with delegations in the area of Castilla La Mancha that has signed the FORTE agreement. The cooperation agreement was promoted by the Vice-Rector for University-Company Relationships, Pedro Carrión, and the Director of the School of Computer Engineering, Eduardo Fernández-Medina. The main goal of the agreement is to bring Computer Engineering graduates closer to companies with an academic approach oriented to the specific needs of the labor market, thus improving employment opportunities of graduates.

Only students in their last year of Computer Engineering are allowed to take part in FORTE. There will be two calls, in May and November, in which the eight participating companies, which includes DocPath, will publish the types of practical training they offer.

On the part of DocPath, the student-company approach will be covered in different areas. On the one hand, the company will define a list of optional subjects that best meet their business needs and, on the other hand, the selected students will follow a training program adapted to the specific subjects they are studying and they will work on a project of interest for both the company and the student. Additionally, as DocPath is a multinational company with branches in Spain, United States and Brazil, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their language skills, especially English. Students will also have a “mentoring program”, to motivate and guide them throughout their training period.

As the icing on the cake, DocPath and the other participating companies have committed to take into account all graduates who have successfully finished their FORTE training period for their personnel selection processes. This means that these students may stand out from other candidates when the corresponding company needs to recruit new professionals.

The Director of the Advanced School of Computer Engineering states that, through the agreement, the University intends to “take the classroom to the company and the company to the classroom, in order to meet the professional needs of companies and enhance the skills of the students”, with the aim of “contributing to the general business network and opening up possibilities on the labor market for its students”.

In words of Julio Olivares, DocPath President: “At DocPath, we believe that the capacities of our employees are our main asset, as software is a means to produce wealth using only knowledge and intelligence. Therefore, we consider our collaboration with the UCML as a clear and efficient way to combine social and business aims”.
