Al Rowe's Book "The Pretty Color Ribbons of War" is a Gripping Tale of Love, Loss, and Heroism in the Shadow of Two Wars That Ravaged the World in the Twentieth Century
Recent release "The Pretty Color Ribbons of War" from Page Publishing author Al Rowe is a riveting debut novel following the exploits of Johnny T. Moore, a rebellious boy from a poor Alabama family whose early delinquency could never have foretold the courage, strength, and heroism he would display during his years of service across two wars in the US military. True and lasting love is the only success that eludes him, through the treachery of others.
MYRTLE CREEK, Ore., Aug. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Al Rowe, an Alabama native and US Navy veteran who served in three wars, has completed his book "The Pretty Color Ribbons of War": a compelling story of love and war.
Johnny T. Moore is poor boy who grew up in the devastated South during the Depression. A rich girl named Jeanne loves him, but her father, a crook, forces the boy away from his daughter and into the Second World War.
The boy becomes a highly decorated hero. After his release, he returns to California, never knowing that Jeanne has had his baby. He returns to the Navy as an officer, stationed in China. There he meets a gorgeous Chinese girl and her brother, who are high-ranking Communist officers working undercover against the American soldiers. They fall deeply in love but are forbidden by US military policy to marry. They are secretly wedded in a Buddhist ceremony, but Johnny is forced to evacuate and return to America shortly after. Both are utterly devastated.
The Korean War breaks out, and Johnny is now recruited to go to North Korea to rescue an important colonel who was shot down and taken prisoner by the revolutionaries. Johnny's long-lost wife is the top officer with whom he must negotiate for the colonel. They are reunited, but she is killed by her brother, who could never accept that his sister loved a hated American. Johnny escapes, saving the lives of the captured airmen, and returns to California as a civilian, crushed by the weight of his lost loves.
One day at the beach, a young girl is drowning. The man dives in and saves the girl, not knowing it is his daughter. Will Johnny ever find happiness again?
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Al Rowe's book is a sweeping love story encompassing fifteen years in the life and service of a dashing and heroic yet unassuming war hero.
