About the Author
Alena Surgeon was born in the Czech Republic formerly known as Czechoslovakia. She attended cooking school in the town of Cesky Tesin and graduated in 1984. After graduation, she worked in the kitchen of a large restaurant for three years that fed more that 5000 people each day. She was then promoted to a supervisory position in a restaurant where she supervised and taught four students from the cooking school in Cesky Tesin. In 1993, she started her own business by opening a grocery store. In 2000, she moved to the United States. She always loved to bake and taught herself how to bake cakes and make desserts. Learning to bake has been a life long passion and her success with her creations lead her to write her first book.
