No matter what the industry, there will be a mob of similar businesses all vying for the same client
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2015
Plumber Alex Figliolia Jr. released a new blog entitled "How to ensure that your business doesn’t starve to death when you’re competing for clients against a mob of contractors in New York City." The blog is his second entry in his advice column which was written to help New York City Plumbing Contractors expand their business.
Said Alex Figliolia Jr., “New York City is the most competitive place for small business. No matter what the industry, there will be a mob of similar businesses all vying for the same client. My new blog entry is geared toward helping businesses find work using the internet. It specifically encourages minority and women plumbers to get certified so they can become competitive in a bidding on government contracts, an area where larger plumbing companies do much better than smaller companies.”
In the blog, Figliolia Jr. points out that there are only 23 certified MBE Plumbers and ONLY 2 certified WBE plumbers.
Said Alex Figliolia Jr, “Eligible small contractors feel like they are going to drown to death when they see the amount of paper work that is required to get certified as an MWBE so they never even try. That is unfortunate because one government contract from the MTA, DOT or other agency can help these businesses grow and expand in the future. Many business organizations receive government grants to help these small businesses get through the process so there is no reason that they shouldn’t try.”
The blog also discusses using internet outlets such as White Pages to get small businesses noticed.
