‘Losing Faith’ Shows Importance of Understanding Loss
Atascadero, Calif. (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- Author Alexis James takes inspiration from her best friend, whom she lost to breast cancer, to pen her new novel, “Losing Faith” (published by AuthorHouse).
The story is seen through the eyes of a young woman named Grace, who must learn to cope with the death of her best friend, Faith. Grace helps Faith through all stages of her breast cancer treatment and must later cope with Faith’s passing. The only ray of sunshine for Grace seems to be Ryan, a new man in her life who helps Grace deal with Faith’s death.
The author would like people to understand that grieving takes time. As there are stages of grief, James says, it is possible to become stuck in one stage, such as anger or denial, for months on end. She also wants people to see the love story for what it is: two people helping each other to have faith in love and in each other.
“Losing Faith” shows how important it is for readers to understand that loss isn't the same for every person, and that there is no timeline for the healing process.
An excerpt from “Losing Faith”:
“Sunlight streams in through the bedroom window, the sheer drapes doing little to shield my eyes from the morning blaze. Squinting, I roll to the side and pull the comforter up around my neck. Glancing at the clock on the nightstand, I groan in agitation and pull the covers over my head.”
