Ali Landry and Mediaplanet Team up to Keep Your Kids Safe at Home and on the Road This Winter
Mediaplanet's "Youth Safety & Education" campaign, found in USA Today and online, helps shed light on the leading causes of death among children in the United States and how to keep your children safe.
NEW YORK, Dec. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ahead of this holiday season, Mediaplanet today announces the launch of its "Youth Safety & Wellness" campaign. The cross-platform campaign dives into hazards that are affecting our nation's youth and aims to educate parents on the best practices for keeping their children safe online, at home, and on the road this holiday season.
Unintentional injuries, including those caused by burns, drownings, falls, poisonings, and traffic accidents, are the leading cause of injury and mortality among children in the United States. Each year, more than 12,000 Americans age 19 and under die from unintentional injuries and more than 8 million are treated in emergency departments for non-fatal injuries. Parents need to make a conscious effort to minimize the risk of these injuries or they will likely affect their households.
The print component of "Youth Safety & Education" is distributed within today's edition of USA Today in the Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, and Washington D.C./Baltimore markets, with a circulation of approximately 200,000 copies and an estimated readership of 600,000. The digital component is distributed nationally through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Joining in our efforts to help educate parents on these dangers is actress and child safety advocate Ali Landry. After the birth of her first child, she purchased a car seat that she "trusted" and matched the interior of her car. After taking a course with Safe Kids, Landry learned that the seat had been improperly installed for years. She soon began helping other parents realize the folly of their ways by becoming a safety seat technician with Safe Kids and hosting an annual Celebrity Red CARpet event to educate parents on car seat/travel safety. "Really my advice is to not cut corners when it comes to safety." With the eighth annual event scheduled for September 2020, Landry encourages people to come and educate themselves.
This campaign was made possible with contributions and support from the International Association for Child Safety, American Association for Poison Control Centers, American Home Furnishing Alliance, SafeWise, Safe Ride 4 Kids, Discount Tire, and National Safety Council.
