Allied Equipment Weighs in at The 2013 Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Washington, D.C.

Allied Equipment Vice President Jayson Feltner attended the conference for a closer look at the latest challenges facing the clean transportation industry, and share information on new advances and commitments established in clean fuel and vehicle technology.
Feltner connected with some of the biggest adopters of alternative fuels, including GE, UPS, Frito-Lay, Proctor & Gamble and FedEx, each offering success stories involving the adoption of “clean” vehicles powered by renewable fuel technologies including electric, hybrid, hydrogen, natural gas and propane-powered vehicles now deployed throughout North America.
The ACT Expo is the largest North American alternative fuel vehicles showcase; this year’s event hosted heavy hitters from industry, business and government at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) officials partnered with ACT organizers to pay homage to the 20th anniversary of the DOE’s ground-breaking Clean Cities program, which helped spearhead development of the alternative fuel and clean vehicle technology markets.
“We were there to examine the challenges still faced by the clean transportation industry, and discuss new ways that vehicle and fuel technologies can make an impact,” Feltner says. “Energy and transportation issues are at the forefront of domestic policy discussions, which is why the ACT Expo attracts government officials, commercial and private industry leaders, and technology-centric decision makers who are looking to streamline the transition to an alternative fuel reality.
The ACT Expo hosted an impressive list of government luminaries, including Rep. Fred Upton, (R-Michigan), Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce; Nancy Sutley, Chairperson of the White House Council on Environmental Quality; Dan Utech, Deputy Director for Energy and Climate Change, White House Domestic Policy Council; Byron Dorgan, senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center and former Senator of North Dakota; and Chris Grundler, Director of the EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality. The group gathered for a policy roundtable discussion on federal policies, and their ability to advance the market for alternative fuel vehicle technologies.
