For those traveling to Washington D.C. this summer, or for those who live in DC and are looking for some culture, All Points Accommodations wishes to share some these great places to see and experience art around D.C. These events include art, dance, theater performances, poetry, music, and other amazing spectacles for the whole family to enjoy.

First on the list is the National Theater. The National Theater is a historic theater that hosts a variety of performances and events. This summer, the theater will be showing musicals including West Side Story. They also have a children’s program that regularly offers free shows throughout the summer, and will occasionally show free classic films as well. These events are first come first serve but offer a great chance to take in some classic entertainment for free.

According to All Points Accommodations, The Smithsonian American Art Museum is another great pick for art lovers. Currently, the Museum is housing a traveling collection of Pop Art Prints, as well as exhibits on Modern American Realism and Ralph Fasanella. They will also be hosting events throughout the summer including film screenings and art talks.

Speakeasy Storytelling is another great choice for modern performance lovers. An innovative company, their performances aim to tell stories about modern issues and themes. Shows this summer cover themes such as gender and generation gaps, homosexuality, and law and moral codes. Their performances also take form in a variety of different ways including game shows and improve, and take place in many different venues and locations. They also offer classes and want people to submit their own stories to possibly be used in upcoming shows.

Finally, All Points Accommodations recommends the Lisner Auditorium, a historical landmark that has been open since the 1940’s. The auditorium hosts speakers, dance companies, musicians, and other shows and events. The upcoming programing for the summer includes the KanKouran West African Dance Company’s presentation of Sounougal.
