Author And Artist Leads Readers On A Journey Spanning Two Continents And Explores ‘Ancestral Linkages’
NEW YORK (PRWEB) September 15, 2017 -- A combination of abstraction and realism, of organic and inorganic images, artist Geeta Harvey’s new book “Ancestral Linkages: A Journey from New Delhi to Buffalo” (published by Archway Publishing) leads readers on a journey spanning two continents that explores her “Ancestral Linkages.”
“The book deals with themes of love, war, marriage, women’s roles , familial conflicts, division and unity, cyber world and others that are relevant in today’s society,” Harvey says.
A book of approximately 180 paintings and writings that are separated into 11 chapters, “Ancestral Linkages” is Harvey’s personal exploration of her emotions shown through images and writings. Harvey’s personal experiences lead to the conception of her imagery. She derives the forms of her art by synthesizing her early years in India with her life in the United States. In the book, Harvey discusses how in her birthplace of India, she absorbed the sensual and intellectual world surrounding her and that moving to the United States added American traditions to her sensibilities.
Harvey says she would like readers to “remain in touch with their feelings and to find their own creative ways to express themselves. Personal thoughts and experiences should be recorded and possibly developed into creative forms. People should remain open to cultures around the world and understand that underlying cultural differences all humans experience emotions that are similar and that unite us all.”
