Walter P Moore Water Resources Engineer Earns Diplomate Credential
Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 18, 2017 -- Andrés A. Salazar PhD, PE, Principal and Managing Director of Houston Hydrology & Hydraulics at Walter P Moore was recently named a Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE), a subsidiary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In support of AAWRE’s mission in ‘Elevating level of Standards’ – to broaden and deepen the body of knowledge for practicing engineers, AAWRE’s certification was developed to improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the profession of water resources engineers. The D.WRE represents strong professional ethics and a commitment to life-long learning and continuing professional development. Since the start of AAWRE’s Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) program in October 2004, only over 700 water resources engineers worldwide have qualified for the Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer credential.
A recognized expert in water resources engineering, Andrés is experienced in steady and unsteady modeling, river basin and reservoir operations, and water resources planning as well as with planning and feasibility studies for drainage and water supply projects. He has designed numerous complex drainage projects across the State of Texas and is a proficient user of EPA-SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC- HMS, STORM NET, InfoWorks, RiverWare, and WRAP computer models. In addition, he possesses special expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic systems that are key to creating an effective sustainable site drainage design.
An Adjunct Faculty member at The University of Texas at Arlington, Andrés teaches graduate courses on hydrology and water resources. He also leads professional groups with interest in water rights and water resources system modeling. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and his Master and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in Bogota, Columbia, and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas. Andrés is a resident of Houston, Texas.
