Angela M. Brown’s new book shows importance of family
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) September 09, 2014 -- Based on true events from the author’s own life, the new book by Angela M. Brown titled “Portrait of a Family: The Schoolhouse” (published by Trafford Publishing) shows the value of education, family bonds and faith.
An old, two-room schoolhouse was situated on the Brown family’s property when the author was a child. During her formative years, Brown and her siblings attended the schoolhouse as an elementary school run by Mr. Phillips, as he is identified in “Portrait of a Family.”
Because of the tight-knit nature of Brown’s family, she and the other children were expected to be punctual, truthful and abide by the family’s set rules. But when one of Brown’s sisters decided to do something out of the ordinary, the family’s dynamic was changed forever.
“Hopefully, by reading about these life experiences, the student or reader will decide to make better choices and not have to say, ‘I wish I’d done things another way,’” Brown says. “I want readers to know that it is important to have the wherewithal to step out and get a good education and take care of their minds and bodies.”
