First Annual American Bald Eagle Photography Contest Opens
Prince William County, Virginia (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- Thanks to continued conservation efforts, the American bald eagle population is once again flourishing, and one Virginia-based organization, Potomac River Bald Eagles, wants to showcase the recovery of our nation’s symbol through the eyes of photographers who capture stunning imagery of these regal creatures.
Founded in 2014, Potomac River Bald Eagles seeks to “foster public awareness of environmental, social, and political issues that may affect the habitat of American bald eagles.” The organization has created the first annual American Bald Eagle Photography Contest to help keep the bald eagle’s revival on the minds of Americans and environmentally conscious people everywhere.
The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers in any country, and features over $1,000 in awards and prizes, including $500 and a Crystal Eagle Award trophy for the first place recipient. Images must have been captured after January 1, 2013 and contain only minor adjustments for color balance and sharpness. Photographs of bald eagles held in captivity or baited are disallowed.
“The bald eagle’s history is remarkable, and what was once a rare occurrence in many parts of the country, eagle sightings are now becoming more common as their population continues to rise,” said Brad Caricofe, Founder of Potomac River Bald Eagles. “We want to call attention to the exceptional results of ongoing conservation efforts that have allowed bald eagles to thrive once again and highlight the stunning imagery captured by a wide range of talented wildlife photographers,” said Caricofe.
The contest has attracted corporate sponsors too, with a well-known Virginia photography store supporting the event. PhotoCraft has been a popular supplier of cameras, lenses, and equipment, since its inception in 1978. The company claims its history of success has been the result of a business vision that places utmost importance on excellent customer service, honesty, and developing loyalty among their clients.
The contest will remain open until August 21, 2014, and winners are expected to be announced on September 7, 2014. For more information, or to enter your own photo of a bald eagle, visit their website: http://potomacriverbaldeagles.com/contest/.
