Antonio Resende’s New Book Reveals True History and Essence of Karate
Kissimmee, Fla. (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- From Shihan Antonio “Tone” Resende comes “Hajime,” a concise and accurate book that presents the history and fundamentals of karate, serving as a reference to the core of the martial art. Readers will have no trouble comprehending the facts and principles herein as the text is well-outlined and -presented. With the aim of furthering the understanding and appreciation of karate as a whole, it gives them an extensive reading course back to its earliest roots.
Resende does a brilliant job of simplifying the complex history of karate, especially in the United States where little is known of its beginning. Even though it primarily deals with the Shotokan system, he ropes in a brief but concise chronological overview of karate in general, when and where it began, and how it spread around the world. All in all, the author puts forward a trove of truths and insights to allow serious learners of the art grasp its true essence.
As Gichin Funakoshi, founder of Shotokan karate, often reminded his students, “The spirit of karate-do is lost without courtesy.” Courtesy is what exactly readers carry out in reading this book. A reference material for historical research and studies, it allows them to revisit the beginnings of karate from India, China to Japan, followed by its introduction in Southeastern Massachusetts. It names the prominent instructors and followers who brought the arts to fruition and those who continued to keep it alive and formidable.
Resende’s book not only provides a practical and historical knowledge of karate, it digs deep to reveal its origin and philosophy. A one true resource, “Hajime” is a must-read for students who wish to understand the true history and essence of karate and practice it with a more intense earnestness.
